Redondo Beach is updating four (4) elements of the General Plan, and processing associated Zoning Ordinance (Coastal and Inland) and Local Coastal Program (LCP) updates. A Draft Program Environmental Impact Report (DPEIR) has been prepared to accompany these documents and is available for public review.
About
The City of Redondo Beach is conducting a focused update to four elements of its General Plan: Land Use, Open Space and Conservation, Safety, and Noise. The focused update also includes a new "Introduction," which includes a vision statement ("Vision 2050"), as well as "Guiding Principles" developed as part of the process by the City's General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC).
To implement the Draft General Plan and Housing Element, the City is also updating its Zoning Ordinance (Coastal and Inland) and amending the Local Coastal Program (LCP) to align each with the draft General Plan. This website will be used to provide the public the ability to review and comment on the documents when they become available and before they are presented to the Planning Commission and City Council for their review, which is tentatively scheduled for Fall of 2024.
Focused General Plan Update (4 Elements)
The four updated General Plan elements available for review in this process will become part of the City’s comprehensive General Plan. To see the elements that are part of the consolidated plan, and to learn more about which elements are currently available for public review, please visit the project website.
Focused Zoning Ordinance Update
Updates to the City’s Zoning Ordinance have been drafted to ensure the City’s regulatory and implementation tools are consistent with the proposed updates to the General Plan. They include modifications required to maintain certification of the City’s recently adopted Housing Element and provide necessary adjustments to formally align the City’s Municipal Code with mandated State laws such as Senate Bills 35 and 330.
Focused Local Coastal Program Amendment
To implement the changes proposed by the Focused General Plan Update within the coastal zone, the City must also amend portions of both the Coastal Land Use Plan (CLUP) and Implementing Plan (IP) components of its Local Coastal Program (LCP).
Draft Program Environmental Impact Report (DPEIR)
The City of Redondo Beach has released the Draft Program Environmental Impact Report (DPEIR) addressing potential impacts associated with the Redondo Beach Focused General Plan Update, Zoning Ordinance Update and Local Coastal Program Amendment for a 47-day review period beginning on August 1, 2024 and ending on September 16, 2024.
